Roofing Squares
Roofers order materials and price labor by the "square". One roofing square equals 100 square feet of roof surface, so a 2,500 sq ft roof is 25 squares.
Pitch-Adjusted Area
A sloped roof has more surface than its footprint. The pitch-adjusted area multiplies the footprint by a pitch factor to estimate the true surface area to be covered.
